When Is Repiping Necessary?

You can monitor your pipe’s health by checking for common signs of deterioration, including stains and rust on exposed pipes, which can indicate pipe failure. However, if you are cognizant of the condition of your home’s plumbing, you can save yourself from a major catastrophe by having your pipes replaced before they burst or further, more extensive damage is done. Signs You Need To Repipe Your Home, Include:

Frequent Leaks in Plumbing – If you experience more than three leaks in a period of six months, chances are that your pipes have corroded and need to be replaced. Some signs of a leak may include poor water pressure, increased water bills, or the development of mold and mildew.
Visible Signs of Corrosion – This may include a blue-green tint on copper piping, rust-colored powder, flaking, dimpling, or discolorations of any kind. Corrosion will almost always lead to a leak if left unfixed.
Rust Colored Water – Rusty-colored water coming from both your hot and cold water appliances is usually caused by rusty pipes. This typically requires a full house repipe to be fixed. However, if you only notice rusty water from your hot water appliances, there is a chance that this is from your water heater and not your pipes.
You have CPVC Pipes – If you have a home plumbed in CPVC we usually recommend replacing the pipe because it has been known to be brittle and can cause leaking, especially on the hot side.

I was just cleaning my kitchen sink while listening to the washing machine in the background and thought how grateful I am for Brass Monkey.  They did a whole house re-plumb, including the main and hard-plumbing the washing machine, in August of 2025.  The delay it took in writing this review is more a reflection of my procrastination and no reflection on the team.  From the first phone call, to the very thorough inspection and estimate (bless the guy who crawled around under our house -- you couldn't pay me to do that!), to the scheduling (they bumped us up a week when we discovered we had a very expensive leak!), to the completion of the work, the entire team went above and beyond.  That sounds cliche, but it's true.  When they found something wrong with the toilet, they fixed it, even though it wasn't part of the original plan.  When they were swapping out the faucet, I casually asked if they could change the sink and they happily helped me hunt down one that fit and installed it the next day.  In every way, I knew they were doing their best to get everything right in my very old (1948!) house.  I have had other work done on my house and yard since that time, but these guys are the only ones I am taking the time to write a review -- their work and customer service is exceptional and there isn't much lately that you can say that about!

We live in an older home, and Brass Monkey has become our go to company for the misc pipe and water issues we’ve encountered over the past few years. Had another recent issue with a potential main water line clog causing water backup in multiple tubs/toilets, and Chris & Gavin were fantastic! Inspected and tested all necessary avenues, and were more than fair. Thankfully the clog resolved itself, and they are so honest that they didn’t try to price gouge us at all. Brass Monkey Plumbing has a five-star rating and that Five-Star rating starts with the 'Voice of the Company', Aliyah.  It turned out that my issue as Breaker Issue, so nothing serious.  Whomever hired the 'Voice of the Company' should get a raise, a big raise.
